problem with amber11rc2 theme settings

Hello my fellow admins and good people at large!

I love the Theme "amber11rc2" but I have ONE (maybe 2) problem(S) with it:

namely

1) on "current theme settings screen" I cannot change anything because as soon as I hit SAVE button - the entire site changes its theme !?!? to default SMF theme.

What is causing this and how could I get it fixed?

lastly

2) Is there a way to modify the front page of the forum site by adding custom images and text to it?
I feel a bit limited with the pre-existing options that come with themes (or is the edit of themes specific to the theme?)

the second one is easy depending on what you wanna do, if you wanna change the graphics on it these are linked in the style.css or some may be in the index.template.php (ive never looked at code but its prob more the style.css) f you wanna add your images at different points it gets more diffifcult as it depends where you want theme but they can be added using an html image tag in the index.template.php (make sure you back-up this first)

1.) It sounds like your forum might be at SMF 1.0.7? Note that Amber is meant only for SMF 1.1RC1/RC2. If used at 1.0.7 it will give problems like that.

2.) there is a Photoshop file where you can alter some of the graphics for it. Look in the theme site for "amber".

Can you tell me what image I am missing on my forum - for whenever I post an article I see this broken image link to the left of my posting's title.

Upgrade your forum to 1.1RC2. There are several guides on how to do that:

For the prior question, I can't even connect to the site - but I suspect that error you got, stems from the wrong version of the theme. Again only a forum upgrade will solve that.
