IE 6.0 saved password don't work

Weired issue I came across.

Using standard feature of Internet Explorer to save passwords I came to find out that you can not login using the saved password. It takes you to the wrong password page. But if you manually retype the password you get logged in just fine.

At first I thought that simply saved the incorrect password but after resaving it several times I realized the above.

That is correct.

The same should happen in the stand alone SMF.

The password is hashed in the browser, inserted into a different form element, and erased before the actual submission.  That way, only a hashed password is sent out from the browser.
