Installing the program

Okay, I am starting my own phpBB forums (free ones) and for the installation instructions (for SMF) I am totally lost on what to do. I have no idea where any phpBB folders would be, or what the root folder is or all that stuff. I am really new to this kind of stuff. So as of right now, I have no idea how to do any mods, or install this software. Please, provide step by step instructions for a noob (or refer me to a topic where this question has been already asked, I couldn't find it.)

phpBB and SMF are not the same. This could explain the reason for your confusion.
