I love this forum software so much!

Download a template of your choice. Then go to your forum's administration panel.
Follow this way: Admin -> Themes and Layout ->
Here, upload the package you downloaded. Now it should be installed.

make sure that the theme you download is compattable with your forum  si you are using 1.0.7 then please DO N OT use a theme for RC2 or if you are using RC2 please DO NOT use a 1.0.7 theme, the changes between 1.0.7 -> 1.1RC2 are large and will cause errors on your site if you use the wrong theme

I am trying to get apollo 1.06 to work. I uploaded it to my database but it isn't showing in my theme. Is there anything special I have to do?

You aren't being very clear as to what you did. If you followed the instructions in Elmacik's post, you should have gotten a message thet the theme installed successfully.

After that, the Theme and layout settings page of Admin should display it. If it isn't there, try again:

Go to admin, then Theme and layout settings. Under "Install a new theme" use the "from a file:" browse button to enter the zip file that you downloaded to your computer.

Apollo is good for several different versions of SMF (though I have not installed it myself, so I can't say  too much).

I did it! Thank you for your help! What I didn't know is that you can upload them using the zip file. I was unzipping them and trying to upload. Newbie mistake.

Yay! :D

Sometimes things are too simple and easy lol
I love SMF's install options.
