plz plz i can't upgrade or add a mod

SMF Version: SMF 1.0.5
Everytime i try to upgrade or add a mod it shows me this error

plz what can i do to fix the error in the 1.0.5 version

thanks but know it told me that

"You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory is not writable!"

the packages file permission  now is "777" what can I do??

You will need to talk to your web host on that one. That mesage indicates they have disabled certain PHP functions that SMF uses.
