Problema con favicon

buenas noches estoy intentando colocar el favicon de mi foro y lo consigo hacer bien el unico inconveniente que veo es que dependiendo de los distintos navegadores luego la pagina se ve de un modo u otro,el problema es con IE que aumenta el tamaño de las fuentes y hay que cambiarlas cada vez que se navega a otra pagina distinta.

Lo he colocado en el archivo index.template arriba del todo:

No se si es el sitio correcto pero aparecer aparece bien el problema es que me aumenta el tamaño de las fuentes de las letras.

Deberia de colocarlo en otro sitio distinto dentro de archivo index.template.

Donde y porque sucede esto por favor.

sino me acuerdo mal debería ir en el style.css del theme que tengas definido por defecto
