upgrading from 1.0.7 to 1.1 rc2 - mods?

I'm considering upgrading from SMF 1.0.7 to 1.1 rc2 in order to benefit from the extended features and functions of the calendar which I really need.
Do I have to disable TP when upgrading? And yes I MUST backup first...

i am unfamiliar with Tiny Portal, but if you can disable it, and your concerned enough to even ask, then maybe you should. upgrading doesn't take very long, so go for it.
