SMF Version: SMF 1.1 RC2
I need help installing the other language files. How do I go about doing this? I have tried uploading the folders by FTP to the themes/default/language. While doing so, I received an ERROR message. Do I need to put the files in there or the folders? Then do I need to chmod them?

sawz

i believe the language files go into the language folder of the default theme.
keep smiling, they'll always wonder what your up too.....

Bigguy

What error message are you recieving ???

I don't remember what the error was that the FTP gave me. I didn't try to load anymore after that. I will try to upload the language files into the theme/default/language folder.

Where do I add the images files? in the theme/default/images folder?

LainaaWhere do I add the images files? in the theme/default/images folder?
depends on what the images are for.

Under the images folder of the theme you are using, create a folder named the language you are installing and put all the images in that.

Edit: acually this is what it says when you download a language pack:

LainaaJust extract them into the same directory as the installation of SMF.

How would I test to see if it works? When I go to my profile it doesn't even show the drop down menu so you can choose.

Bigguy

Are they in the right place. ???

I did put them in the same file as SMF. They weren't showing up.  ??? Now they are showing up though. After I loaded them to the language folder and images to their seperate folders.

Bigguy

Ok so I was right the first time then, lol. Glad its working for you.

I can't get any mods to work for me. Still confused about that too.

Bigguy

sawz

if you want to install mods, make sure there compatible with the version of SMF your using, also. you may have to chmodd 0777 your Packages folder.

I want to instal the Captcha? mod. I tried to install the Integrated Chat Mod but I couldn't get it to work so I gave up.  :(

sawz

forget that chat mod, i bet its a security risk and maybe your hosts TOS forbids it. I do.
captcha should install ok. would you like me to do it for you? if so PM me.

Like sawz said, Make sure you have a version of the mod that is compatible with your smf. The package folder should already be 777 chmod. Download the mod to your desktop and then upload it through the package manager by browsing for it. Then apply the mod make sure all changes say success beside them. If they don`t then DO NOT PROCEED.

RobinSlig

ok what files do I need to make sure are Chmoded?

Bigguy

You shouldn`t have to do anything. Most or all of your files can either be chmodded to 755 or 777 That would give permissions to install mods.

RobinSlig

It's acting like I'm in safe_mode. I have been pointed to that link. Will report back soon!

RobinSlig

Multiple languages are still having problems. The instructions are in their language but the messages are in english.
What is the english language file for?
