Recommend This Site Tip

SMF already has a nice "SEND THIS TOPIC" link embedded in it which sends an email to someone with a link to that specific topic.

What I have incorporated is a general "Recommend This Site to Your Friends" link using a free cgi (perl) script called 'csRecommend' from http://www.cgiscript.net.  It is HTML template based so you can easily modify it to fit your needs and generates the JavaScript calling code for you.

The Ad Management mod allowed me to insert the text link just under the main menubar without having to edit any php files.  Instead of sending a link to a specific topic, members can use it to send an email to up to 5 people with a general introduction to your site and an invitation to join.  The script generates a text link and a pop-up window when the link is clicked so you can easily fit it into your theme.

You can see it running on my site if you like.  If you want, click the link and send the recommendation to yourself to see how it works.  The text of the email is fully customizable.

yours is nice, i can add more friends links if i wanted too,
but i like the captcha thats with it, its called auditor and i bet
you can add it to yours.
