Karma for Threads

Dear everyone:
Idea is simple: expand Karma to allow users to "applaud" or "smite" a topic, with the option to display this value in a new column on the board (which if visible can be used as a sorting option--good for a forum like this where a developer might want to know which ideas are most positively received).



Speaking of Karma, on a side note, it would be nice if we had a few more options. Namely, I'm interested in cutting out the ability to "smite" people. I feel there is little point in displaying whether a person is unliked. It will only push them away from the community. Instead, I'd like a more positive system.

This could be accomplished by including the right to applaud or smite seperately inside membergroup permissions.



It would also be dandy if users could earn per an admin-defined amount of posts the Karma points they can give to others. This means you could set up something like: 1 Givable Karma Point earned per 10 posts, spent when you applaud/smite another. This means you must be active on the forums to give out Karma, not just trolling every hour or so. This would be an optional system, though, for those who may prefer the time-based system.
