Im currently running version 1.07 but would like to upgrade to RC2 due to the large amount of mods that people have created that I feel would really enhance our members enjoyment and functionality when using our website.

Im assuming that to upgrade from 1.07 all that I need to do is to BACKUP EVERYTHING, Anything and everything on my site that has to do with SMF or Tiny Portal, then backup the database to my local hard drive (maybe back it up a couple times just to be safe), then put the forum into maintenance mode and then upload the new files in the upgrade package and visit the upgrade.php file to complete the upgrade.

Is this correct or is there something else that I have to do to accomplish this?  Also, will any mods that I have currently applied to my 1.07 version of SMF be erased and have to be reinstalled if they are even available for the 1.1 RC2 version or will they just convert over?

Also does Tiny Portal 0.86 still function with SMF 1.01 RC2 and if so do I need to reinstall it over the upgraded board, or will it remain in place as it is now?

Last question is that I am rather uncertain exactly which package I am supposed to download to upgrade my 1.07 version of SMF.  Something about if you have mods then you'll need to choose the larger package or something like that, so I really am confused about which exact package I am supposed to be downloading to upgrade my current 1.07 board.

Thank you for your time
Adam

By 1.01 rc2 i assume you mean 1.1rc2.
This link will help you understand more about 1.1rc2
What should I use, SMF 1.0 or 1.1?

As for your questions, backups are great and i'm glad you understand that :)

Mods will need to be reinstalled and with the correct version. Make sure all your mods are compatible with rc2. TP will need to be installed and can be installed on 1.1RC2

If you choose to install 1.1rc2, download this file: SMF 1.1 RC2 - update

If you have anymore questions, feel free to reply to this thread.

Thank you,
One more question.  When Im backing up the database using SMF's administration system, should I checkmark the option to save table structure?

Yes, save the table structure.

Thank you,
Hopefully one last question.

Since I have to reinstall Tiny Portal does that mean that any articles, catagories etc will have to all be re-entered into Tiny Portals administration system or will they just be there after reinstalling TP?

jerm

No they shouldn't. All that should be stored in the database.

Harzem

They will probably be there, because TP uses different tables than SMF. Any upgrade won't affect these tables.

In any case, you will need to reinstall it for code modification.

Download "1.1 RC2 upgrade" package, and overwrite your old files.
OR
Install clean version of 1.1 RC2, and use "update" package to update your database.
