A tentative date has been provided to them.

Here's a question for you guys... Do you think that SMF 1.0 will be out in time to be a major competitor with the other major php board release that's in the works? (If you're wondering why all the sketchy text, I'm trying not to advertise).

I didn't know anyone was getting ready to release...don't really follow them :)

Well, I like to keep up with the competition... That way if they have a feature that looks cool and this one doesn't, I can suggest it here.

sorry this might be outa line, but do you think the "ip logged" icon is a little xpish?  I know this is alpha, but there was quite a discussion earlier in this thread about the xpishness vs the osxishness of the look and feel of SMF.  BTW. Great f-ing job you guys!!!!!!!!!!  Can I get a hell yeah for the Developers? ;D  Oh yeah, and good god don't whine about a friggin $50.00 yearly privlage to view work in progress code.

Hell Yeah!!

I think that icon came from the YaBB original which predated XP.

I C.  Am I right though?  Maybe it is the the other way around then?  The MacroHard people stole it from the 'Y' word people?  That's just nit picky bs anyway.  Overall feeling is: "I can't friggin wait for this thing to become available".

You guys say it like YaBB SE is a bad thing.

Though SMF has one improvement, my name is highlighted...

sRRY. DidN't MeaN anY DisReSpeCt!  I use Yabb 1 and am planning on upgrading to YabbSE.  I'm for it all!  It's just that this is SMF's website, and this is SMF alpha, and I'm just watching my p's and y's. :(

Is it just me, or is it everytime I post here (reply) when I hit post, it tosses me back to the home dr?

that, I'm not quite sure of

I dun think so. SMF is cool and all, but I think "HL2 BETA COPY!!!" is more likely to draw attention than "SMF 1.0 ALPHA COPY!!!" :P

Haha, true. Not many who can complain about that. But how about both?
SMF Alpha is unknown for the most of the people on the net, except the members here, so maybe they will check it out. Then they will either be furious or pleased. We can all hope :)

I understand that you have already given the Charter Members a possible delivery date of the beta versions and such, but wouldn't it be helpful to give the rest of us a ballpark idea? A couple weeks, months or longer?  I don't mind checking in frequently, but it really would be nice to have a general idea of how long we might be waiting for Version 1.0.

Btw, I see a lot of quality work going on here and find many needed addition and improvements.  If the underlying code has near the improvements as the face, you have a heck of a winner here.

We will make a public announcement when Charter Members recieve their copy.  It shouldn't be too much longer.

This place looks good - very good infact - well done - love the look and feel :)

A word of warning though - change the OS X icons before Apple finds out (I mean the iChat Smileys, and the buttons with Sherlock, and iCal icons etc...) - you will get pressurised/sued by them for infringing their copyright. - i hope these are only 'development' icons, until you get some proper ones made up :)

Glad to have some fellow 'Mac Weenies' working on a forum now, I'm torn between this and YaBB...

This should be far better than YaBB into terms of resource usage... simply because php and mySQL use far less resources.

smiley's were all made from scratch by members of the team (sorry... can't remember who...), same with the buttons I assume. So unless they have a patent on the yellow smiley face and on using a sherlock holmes hat in buttons... they can't do much ;)

also... not everyone here's a 'Mac Weenie"... though I'm sure I speak for many when I say the Mac OSX theme is smoooooth!! (got one running on my winXP ;))
