I tried doing the update using the instructions found thru this post http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=102921.0

However, I'm getting the following error on my site.

Lainaa
The upgrader found some old or outdated files.

Please make certain you uploaded the new versions of all the files included in the package.

Any help? I'm very non computer savvy, so go easy on me :(

Try uploading the files from the upgradepackage again, maybe some of them got corrupted during upload. Are you using any other languages besides english? Make sure to upload the RC2 languagefiles as well!

Winchell

Nope, just english.

I redownloaded the package, followed the instructions and tried to install it again. No luck. :(

You might want to try a different ftp-client then, still looks like not all files are overwritten.

Do you have any recommendations? I use SmartFTP.

Winchell

I did just check thru all the folders, checking the dates on all the files, etc. Everything was from being rewritten today, except for a few folders:

webalizer
webalizerftp
cpbandwidth

Would it be posssible to find someone to perhaps log in and make this change for me? Or would that be a section for the "Help Wanted" portion of the SMF forum?

( for background, I've tried over three times to update this forum, including redownloading the packages to ensure there is no corruption, double checking folder permissions, and reuploading files :( )

Thanks for any help.

If you have mods installed on your 1.0.x board, it can cause this issue.

Assuming you don't mind losing any extra themes (need to be updated for 1.1 anyway), or attachments, uploaded avatars, etc try this:

  • Make a FULL backup of the existing forum files and database.
  • Get a copy of Settings.php and Settings_bak.php
  • grab the 1.1 -install and -upgrade packages
  • If you don't want to lose the uploaded files, download the uploads directory from your install
  • Delete all the forum files and folders
  • Upload the whole -install package
  • Upload the Settings.php and Settings_bak.php files to overwrite the ones from -install
  • Upload the upgrade.php and .sql files from the -upgrade package
  • Run upgrade.php
  • If you made a copy of the uploads directory, put it back on the server. Make sure to set the right permissions on it and the files in it
