SMF Version: SMF 1.0.5
My forum was running fine then all of a sudden i got this message... How can I safely resolve this without losing my posts..

Many Thanks in advance

Jason

Got error 28 from storage engine
File: /home/turds/public_html/yaBBSE/Sources/BoardIndex.php
Line: 82

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum files are currently at version SMF 1.0.5, whereas your database is at version SMF 1.0.2. It is recommended that you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

Not saying this is the right way to do it but I normally overwrite the last file in the error path with a fresh copy from an upgrade zip.

IOW, download a fresh upgrade zip and upload a fresh copy of boardindex.php in your case :)

Bigguy

I would probably upgrade the forum then with the SMF 1.0.7 - upgrade You can find it here:

I am new to this and am a little worried about losing my posts and the css style changed I made.. any chance of some help through msn?

StrangerWithin

Believe me, i'm no expert myself!! ;D

Download the upgrade package as mentioned earlier. Go to your server via your FTP programme. Browse to the sources folder and open it on the server. Then upload the new boardindex file from the upgrade package, overwrite the old one with the new. Just make sure you copy the existing boardindex to you PC first just incase, at least that way you can re-upload the old file.

Sorry, cant offer live help as I am not an msn user ;)

jason1978

No not a thing that way .. guess the upgrades the way to go

just worried?

jason1978

All appears to be resolved following the update cheers big guy!!

I'm guessing the host fixed the problem, actually. Error 28 means the disk on the server is full.

That error is for the database, not your site files. Assuming your database is not on "localhost" (or even if it is in some cases), only the hosting provider can fix that. You'll need to contact them.

Seriously, some hosts need to get proper monitoring on their servers. For work, I get an e-mail and page if free space drops below 20% on any server drive/partition. And another one if it goes below 10% (and one every hour until I tell the system to shut up).

I have still not resolved this issue .. I continue to get intermitant faults and stuff saying the same error .. I have spoken with my service provider who stated the following

"all of your MySql databases can be accessed and administered from Cpanel , i cannot use phpmyadmin whilst logged in as Root user . As this is not a space issue you will need to look into the database error , if there is any assistance i can give you please email me ".

I am really at a loss ... am really despirate to sort this out its been goin on for ages now ..

Is there anything else I can do or tell my server provider??

xenovanis

Unless you have access to the temp direcory or the MySQL partition I would switch hosts tonight, as obvioulsy your host has no idea what he is talking about.

jason1978

I dont know what to do for the best . How do I know if i have got access to these things .. I have just got C panel and FTP access ... I'm a bit stuck in their hands really..

Lets see what tomorrow Brings ?

If you're still getting a error 28, this isn't going to be resolved overnight. Your host needs to check which partition is low on space.

jason1978

Yes I hope it will resolve soon .. as at present they are saying the problem is not space related.. I think I may point them toward this forum to read your comments

Jason, this error is spacerelated. If they're saying otherwise, they don't know what they are talking about..

My server provider has told me the following

Server disk is not full tho a partition  used as Tmp storage is overfull and i am having that cleaned now .

could this well be the problem?#

jason

xenovanis

Yes, that could very well be the problem.
