Do not mark section "read" if it holds unread topics.

The title is quite self-explanatory ;) I really don't like when only after entering a section, it becomes marked as read. It should not be marked "read" when it holds unread topics. I have "mark as read" button to do this. I don't want this automatically.

I think you've converted from phpBB :) In the first days, I didn't like this feature like you. But it gets better in a short time.

The indicator doesn't indicate that all topics are read but whether there are unread posts since you last viewed a board.

Unlike most other forum software, SMF is not broken and keeps track of read / unread topics correctly - even topics from say 5 years ago and it doesn't matter what computer you use to access the forum since it is stored in the database not in a stupid cookie. If I had to read every single post (or click mark read all the time) I'd go barmy, on a large board people just don't read every single topic.

Give it a few days, and you will soon come to realise how much better it is and hate using other boards that do it the other way.

@HarzeM: That's right, but I like it the way it is now. Unfortunatelly some of my users went crazy ;)

@Ben_S: you don't get my point. I don't want to separately mark all topics read/unread. I only want an option to choose whether the section's icon should change if there are still unread topics or not. It could be changed in user's profile - so every user could set the preferred behavior.

I get your point just fine, I was explaining the reason for why it's done like it is. Your users will soon get used to it.
