1.1RC3 - DON'T DO IT! (IMHO)

SMF Version: SMF 1.1 RC2
As much as I love this forum program - the new upgrade is the worst in my opinion! I upgraded, followed all the rules, uninstalling MODS, etc. Loaded the new files, upgraded, and then NOTHING! The board was there, the posts, but it is not compatible with almost every MOD except 2, you can't use TP nor some of the custom themes. I will not be trying any upgrades until it is compatible with MODS and TP.

its not smf PROBLEM.and TP is not developed by SMF TEAM. its by bloc and smf have nothing to do with this.and about MOD. it all depends on author not on SMF TEAM.

Also make sure you download the latest versions of the mods from the SMF site some have been updated to RC3. Bloc will come out with Tinyportal 0.95 soon which will work for RC3

It should also be noted that SMF 1.1 is still in the RC phase of testing, meaning NOT FINAL. There are numerous places where this is stated, and even the update system warns you about potential problems.

The more you mod your forum, the more careful you need to be, you should always check if your mods are compatible BEFORE updating not AFTER.. This was a lack of diligence on your part not the SMF team.

1.1 RC3 is compatible with mods and themes, it is just that the existing themes and mods aren't yet compatible with it.

Most themes from RC2 should work (Turn off the image verification option) without any changes for now, but the authors will need to make a few updates to support some of the new code. These changes are minor, so most themes should be updated quickly (if their author is responsive).

Mods are a mixed bag right now. A lot of them work and will even install (if you apply a special flag to the package installer). The mods that make superficial changes will have the best chance of working. Other mods that do much deeper work (TinyPortal) will probably need to make a few updates to work properly. It is not the duty of the Simple Machines Team to make sure mods will work across development releases.

Like Lazybones stated, your problems stem from your lack of proper preparation and investigation before applying the update.
