RC3 Validation Code error on signup

SMF Version: SMF 1.1 RC3
hi all

after upgrading to RC3 found that noone can register in my forum since the validation code does not work and shows nothin, then i tried from admin settings to avoid the validation to be asked during signup, but it also fails to grab this setting so it turns back to the default asking for a validation image that is not displayed.

can someone tell me if there is a fix for that?
I also tried browsing the database manually to change the setting to avoid the validation code to appear, but i didnt find which table and field is storing this value, theere is one at the settings table with something like "validation_code" so tried values like 0 and 1 but nothing happens

any idea?

I think there is a fix for the captcha problem somewhere on SMF

since i cannot turn valiudation off from the admin settings, is there any way to do that manually? looks administration is not saving that option in the database, amy be i can edit the DB manually with phpmyadmin, but which table or field?
