i hope this is the right location to put it cuz it says 'support'
if it's not then im sorry and please move it to the right place

well im trying to convert invision power board v1.2 to smf
i follow the directions and when i get to the page to start installing, and i press 'Continue' after i've put in the smf databse password i get this msg
QuoteSorry, the database connection information used in the specified installation of SMF cannot access the installation of Invision Power Board. This may either mean that the installation doesn't exist, or that the MySQL account used does not have permissions to access it.

im not sure if this is a big problem or not but the password for the ipb and the smf are different
are they supose to be the same? if so please give me a tutorial on how to change the password

Are you using cPanel? Make sure your smf database user has access to the ipb database and vice versa. Or use one database for both installs (with different prefixes!).

im sorry but im really a 'noob' at php and mysql
but yes i do have a cpanel

and for the privalages, they're currently set on "ALL PRIVILEGES"

Give your ipb database user access to the smf database and the smf database user access to the ipb database. In your cPanel, go to MySQL databases and use the "Add user to DB" option.

thx, it worked out fine
the converter is a really cool [awsome] invention, doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it
