Need to switch from 1.0.8 to 1.1RC3

I just recently installed version 1.0.8 but I wanted to switch to 1.1 RC 3 without losing the members and topics on my forum.

How do I switch to 1.1 RC3?

You need to upload the files in the SMF 1.1 RC3 - upgrade package over your current forum files and then run upgrade.php to make database changes.
