HI, just finished uploading SMF 1.1 RC3 using a full install.

I'm now in the Admin Center and when I click on Current Theme or Themes and Layout al I get is a blank page.

All of the other options within the Admin Center seem to work fine.  Any suggestions?

TIA
Joe
What the sinner needs to do is not accept Jesus Christ or make a decision for Christ, but to repent and cry out and ask Jesus Christ to accept him in spite of his sin.  He asks Christ if He would make a decision to forgive him.  It's not your decision for Christ, it's His decision for you that matters"~John MacArthur

I have this same problem, on a completely fresh install, and the error I get is:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '%' in /home/www/whomovedmycheese/forum/Sources/Themes.php on line 1823

I went there, and the URL has quite a few % in them, but I didn't see anything out of the ordinary on that line.  However, I am using GoLive CS2, which color codes the different actions, and the PHP is broken starting on line 1816, which has the code: ?>';

If I remove that code, then the PHP is fine until line 1840, but then breaks again.  I am not skilled enough in PHP to see what is missing.  I'm betting it's a semi-colon or something, but I just don't know.

Any help?

I'm not getting an error message at all.......just a all, just a completely blank page.

Under source view of the blank page I get this:

Lainaa<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></HEAD>
<BODY></BODY></HTML>

I also am using Go Live but it's 6.01.  I used it to install SMF 1.07 and everything went fine.

In both instances I changed the unzipped folder name from smf_1-1-rc3_install to
forum.  Worked fine with SMF 1.07.........hum.

The first time I tried to install RC3 I changed the folder name inside GoLive and it updated a few of the theme files.  So, I uninstalled everything and this time changed the folder name before I imported into GoLive but it does the same thing.

Which by changing it first before importing it, which is what I did with smf 1.07 it all worked fine........Hum?

And as I said in my first post , all the functions in the admin center work fine with RC3, just blank pages with I try to enter the theme section.

Grrrrrrrrrrr.....lol

Have you tried to re-upload the themes folder and sources folder + index.php to see if that fixes it?

I reuploaded my files, directly from the desktop to the server, and NOT through GoLive.  Just like you said, it changed a few files when I went through GL and I think that is what broke the files.

Try that and good luck, it works great for me now.

jaminjavajoe

nerver uploaded from my desktop....how does that work?  And did you change the folder name or just leave it the way it is after unzipping?

This is odd.
Its quite possible that the version you downloaded got corrupt somehow.
Can you re-download a new version and upload all the files except for settings.php and settings_bak.php

jaminjavajoe

Jerm........not sure what you mean by your post here when you say ".......upload all the files except for settings.php and settings_bak.php

Aren't the setting files neccesary for logging in once the board is installed?

he meant what he said, keep the settings files the same, but re upload everything else.
do not overwrite settings.php and settings_bak.php

upload everything else all over again.

jaminjavajoe

So, I should delete all the files except the settings files from my server and then delete the settings files from the package and then upload?

Also, should I or should I not be renaming the unzipped package to "forum" or does it matter?

remove the settings files from the package on your comp, just upload everything else and let it overwrite. there is nothing to rename.

jaminjavajoe

That seems simple enough although for me but not sure I like the idea of not renaming the unzipped file folder.

Not really sure why at this point but having a url like www.mydomain/smf_1-1-rc3_install/index.php would bother me.

I think in telling folks the url of our message board and trying to explain that the "smf_1-1rc3_install part of the url is just a file name and not and exe. program or something might be a little awkward.

all your doing is uploading the files, unzip it and just upload em, except for the settings files.
you can call the folder anything you want.

codenaught

Just extract the files into any directory with any name and in your ftp program go into that directory and upload those files over your existing ones. Also if you download the Update package you don't need to worry about having to remove the Settings.php file. (Though you will need to remove Upgrade.php afterwards)

K.....it's uploading now, what about CHMOD.......do I need to set certain files to certain CHMOD setting as I have seen in other install instructions?
