no is has ftp server and username and the tick box

i have now updated the password and ftp details and its still giveing  the error
An Error Has Occurred!
You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!

please help

Try chmodding all the files in the packages directory and the directory itself, if that doesn't work; revert their chmod values to their defaults

how do i find out what there defults are i tryed doing it all 755 and 777 this dident work

Try and create a folder called temp inside the packages folder.

The temp dir must be 0777 or 0755.
