Number of posts/page & threads/page should be user-selectable

I was suprised when I learned that SMF's number of threads and posts on-screen per page is a global forum setting, and not something that you can let the user decide.

I think there should be the option to make the setting locked globally, but it should also have the option to allow the user decide how many threads they want to see on the board index and how many posts they want to see on each page of a thread.

I have one user that wants it to be 100 threads/page and 100 posts/page, but I have other users who want as low as 25/25.  Obviously, I can't please everyone, but I should be able to let them please themselves.

I can only show 20 threads and I cannot find anywhere to set it to a higher number.
If this is a global setting, to show 20 threads per page, then where do I edit that?

If this can only be edited inside a PHP file, then please tell me which on it is.

If you can answer this, then thanks in advance

I'd also like to know how to modify the number of threads per page and posts per page for my forum.

Thanks,

absolutly agree, this should be a user defined setting and a default function of SMF
