Hello everyone
I downloaded darkblue theme and using SMF ver 1.08
At the top of the pages under the area where ist says

The box background color is Grey and I wish it to be the same as the main theme background color.
I have the CSS sheet to alter, but there is no Index.php inc in the download
Is there a way I can make all the top of the Index page the same color  IE Dk Blue ?

If there is already a post on this.. I apologise-- I could not find it.
thanks for your time.

im unfamiliar with the theme you're using, but i'm sure the color can be changed via the style.css

I am not familiar with your theme either, but in most themes you'll find this in the style.css. Look for .headerbodies, which covers the user info, key stats and news box. You can change the background color, text color, font, border and so forth.

I hope that helps!

Is there somewhere I can post the style.css file and someone could take a look and maybe highlight parts concerned. ?

I have a feeling it may actually be a background image that is loading, because each time a new theme is selcted under profile it looks fine for a second or two, then the grey background boxes appear behind the user info text and  last memebr to join etc etc

The themes I am talking about are on this Board under Default Themes Color Variations 1.1 RC2

AdventureWriter

It could be a background image. I know I had a similar problem with the category headers in the default theme when I tried to change them. In which case, I believe you will need to find the code in the index.template.php. Did your download come with that page?

No AdventureWriter  I got a few of those same themes in different colors, but none came with the index.template.php.  I am not sure, but looking at the source  code of the page, I think the culprit is a image file named box_bg.gif.  For all I know--- it could be any one of the files in the images folder.
It, box_bg.gif, is a small dot of grey in the middle of gif page...  About the size of a . (full stop)
Also, I cant find the hex color codes to match what is used in the theme.  I have a couple of hex color panels, but the ID numbers are way off from the style.css file info.

I may just have to get use a couple that the text shows up through the grey and dump the rest. Pity though.

I appreciate your time very much

If they didn't come with the index.template.php, perhaps you are supposed to make a copy of the default one? I am honestly not sure about that, but you could always try. Then, you could see whether that's the correct gif. I should think a gif for background would be larger than a full stop, more like a bar or rectangle of some sort.

Perhaps someone who has used the theme color variations will be able to help. At least I've moved this question back up to the top for you.  ;)

Thanks again AdventureWriter
I had not thought of looking at the original/default theme. As the theme I am trying to use is simply overwiting certain aspects of the default, perhaps I will look at what is underneath in the first place.
I'll get back to you if /when  :) I finally get it worked out.
cheers

I did a View Page Source of the theme I want to edit and copy/paste to a html editor.
By looking at the Index page source in my HTML editor and changing a couple of things, I eventually worked out that the bit I need to edit out of the theme I am trying to use, is in fact the image file named box_bg.gif.
When I remove the code line containing reference to that image file, the board displays exactly as I want.

My problem is...I do not have the index.php files for the themes I have.  I have no idea why they are not included with the theme.
I don't know how to fix this without access to the index.php file.
I can save any alterations I make to the copy I have pasted into my editor, but I cant see how I could then upload it to our site theme directory .

The original Default theme does not have a index.php either. The latest themes I have show the line to access it in admin, but then says it cannot even find the file---the original default, does not give that option.

It is because all the color variations on the default theme still use the backbone (I.E. index.template) of the default theme.

Make your changes to the main default theme and it will show up in all the color variants you download of the default theme.  If that makes any sense  ;D
