im a newbie and i installed smf to my site. i finished upload all the files on ftp client. and finished set upped the permissions to 777.

After uploading the files, go to http://www.yourdomain.tfl/smf/install.php (or the directory name you choose).

i didnt get this part. i put my domain put cant get into it. i just set the permissions manually... is it fine and the same?

Open up your web browser and browse to http://www.yourdomain.tld/smf/install.php (where smf is the directory name you chose earlier). Provided you set the permissions correctly on Settings.php and Setting_bak.php, you should see a form asking for

and i was stucked here since it doesnt get me to the page also.. can i manually set this on the ftp client?

by the way my domain is poemshare.web1000.com [nofollow] and my ftp folder name is public_ftp and using ftp smart ftp client... any guides will be appreciated

Per say, your domain is something like abc.def.com; you'll need to open install.php in your browser in where the forum is located :P

scorpiox63, your files should not be under your public_ftp directory.

You need to upload them under the public_html folder. That is your forum root directory and is where a browser will 'look' when http://poemshare.web1000.com is entered. Browsers can't 'see' the public_ftp directory in most setups.

You can upload the SMF files and subdirectories directly into the public_html directory, or you can make a subdirectory named something like 'smf' or 'forum' under public_html and load everything there.

After everything is loaded (and the files/directories have the right permissions), open your browser and enter the URL http://poemshare.web1000.com/install.php (or http://poemshare.web1000.com/smf/install.php or http://poemshare.web1000.com/forum/install.php, if you decided to put the forum in a subdirectory) and follow the instructions/supply the information.
