Topic icons - can they be changed at all?

Hello,

I'm using the 1.1RC3 and the amber theme. On the main page of each specific board, there're some icons - in the left column, for instance, there are icons for 'threads you've posted in', 'normal topic', 'hot topic', 'very hot topic', 'locked topic', 'sticky topic', and 'polls'

I know for my group, coming from YahooGroups, it's VERY hard for them to make out the icon for the poll; and even harder for a sticky topic (or, worse still, a sticky poll).

Interestingly, if I click on "Show Unread Posts Since Last Visit", although the topic and poll icons are the same, there are DIFFERENT icons for stickys and locked (the locked actually has a padlock icon; and the sticky has a pushpin icon).

So, I have a couple of questions:

1) Why are there diff. icons depending on where I go to retrieve messages (those are the only two options however)?

2) How can I change these icons so that - perhaps - throughout the site, those 'locked' and 'sticky' icons are used on ALL the boards?

3) Can I get new icons (and replace the others) - so that, perhaps, I can have a new icon for POLLS (then, I'd leave normal, hot and very hot topics alone).

I have to say, I'm VERY VERY new to all this -- so far, I'm able to follow directions well (so, if someone says, "open x.php and change xxxxxxxx to xxxxxxxxx" I can do that!) But, anything more 'vague' will almost certainly not register, unfortunately. I'm learning as I go!

As far as I know they SHOULD be using the same icons and they should be coming from .../Themes/<theme-in-use>/images directory.

You can right click and show Properties of the image and check where the different sets are being pulled from.

And, yes, you can put the images you want into the directory being accessed. They have names like normal_post.gif, hot_post.gif, my_normal_post.gif, normal_poll.gif, etc.

Thanks! I can simply replace the other images there (backing them up first).

Did you look at my board - does it not seem odd that there would be two sets of images (one for the main boards, and one for the 'posts since your last visit' board)?

It DOES seem odd (looked at the first link but didn't register, so couldn't see the unread).

As I suggested, right-click check the image properties and see where they're pulling from in the different cases. Browse through the icon choices in the themes you have and pick the ones
you'd like used and make sure they're the ones in place where the scipt is looking.
