Spam Problem

Over the summer and up to now, spam bots have continued to get worse and worse. Just today while I was at work one single topic on my forum became infested with 13 different spam replies. I left them up for you guys to see. http://www.gamerunlimited.com/smf/index.php?topic=2533

It seems like SMF never used to have an issue with this.

I would use a CAPTCHA mod or Upgrade to SMF 1.1 RC3 which has built in CAPTCHA.

CAPTCHA is basicly image verfication on registration where a user would need to enter letters and numbers found in an image in order to register.

Yeah I'm aware of it, I was just commenting that auto-spam bots seemed to have manifested themselve in the SMF-scene just in the past 6 months or so.
