I created my own theme and it keeps saying I'm using an illegal copy

I'm sorry, but I'm confused. The theme belongs to be, why does it say I'm using an illegal copy? I'm kinda upset as I had the forum already set up with users. I'm not allowed to create my own theme? Am I forced to place the copyright of smf in the copyright? If so, then this is not how opensource is supposed to work. Supposedly opensource? If so, I think not.

..5 minutes pass..

I ripped all the bad code from the source, and it went away.. What does the opensource community think of dumb stuff like that?

Of course you are allowed to create your own theme, but as per the license the SMF copyright stuff (Powered by SMF 1.1 RC3 | SMF © 2001-2006, Lewis Media) has to be present so you have to have a call to theme_copyright() in there.

Just because someone has created their own theme doesn't mean their forum is not powered by SMF. If you have removed the copyright, then please put it back or cease using SMF as you are in breach of the license.
