[SOLVED] Redirection AND disallowing direct access possible?

The forum on the old server had a URL of the form forum.site.com (which pointed to www.site.com/forum).

After moving to a new server, upgrading the forum to SMF 1.1 RC3, integrating it into Joomla 1.0.10 and later .11, and Bridge 1.1.6, it can be accessed directly at http://www.site.com/.

So I had to set up the redirect again, while at the same time trying to prevent direct access to the /forum directory and therefore to the unwrapped forum.

I have setup the subdomain (forum.site.com --> http://www.site.com/forum) and the no-direct-access redirect in cPanel (/forum/ --> http://www.site.com/); a similar redirect is also in the .htaccess file, because it seems that both redirections are needed to prevent direct access. So far, disallowing direct access works. However, instead of being redirected to /, the subdomain "cannot be found."

Any solution?

I'm thinking that maybe the .htaccess and the cPanel config are somehow in a loop regarding the subdomain redirection, so I'm thinking of setting no-direct-access in the site code (instead of cPanel and .htaccess), but where do I do that?

To block access to the forum in unwrapped form, I applied the directions in the Combined Readme. Worked like a charm.

As for the subdomain redirection, I've contacted the support staff of my host.
