Does Google analytics really show me the IP address that did the most traffic per
day ?
So can I find out, which IP address did the most hits during a time period to my
forum ?
Where is thisoption hidden ?
I have not yet seen it in Google analytics.

Many thanks.

I cannot find that report in GA anymore. I remember seeing it, but it seems to have either been burried or removed since the redesign.

Hmm, too bad.
Does anybody else know of a statistic
package that works with SMF
where I can see the IP address that does the most
traffic to my forum per day ?

Could also be a statistic package with its own SQL database,
which I need to install on my server...
or any Javascript online script I could include into my forum
for this reason.

Many thanks.

hi hartiberlin, I'm going through old support topics.

There is a paid for script called Mint that is meant to be quite a good statistics program. I'm not certain if you can see which IP pulled the most traffic though.

You'd probably be better off moving away from Servage which would have the added benefit of being able to use awstats.

Okay,
a friend of mine programmed now a PHP script for
me, who logs all the IP addresses and counts the hits up
to my server into another database, so I can now see,
which IP address is making how many accesses.

So I found now, that the Google spider crawler just made
much too many accesses and traffic.

I just changed the Google bot via the Google Webmaster Tools
to crawl my site slower...

By the way, what would be the optimal settings
in robots.txt to allow Google only crawling for maybe 20 Mbytes
traffic a day ?

Many thanks.

Regards, Stefan.

I don't think you can control to the level of access for web spiders, but give sites like The Web Robots Pages a look over for any tips and how-to's.
