phpBB2 to SMF--Personal Messages

SMF Version: SMF 1.1 RC3
I recently converted a phpbb2 (2.0.21) forum to smf 1.1 RC3

Originally there were new messages showing in the My Messages on the header and nothing showing in the box, other than a large number of labels that you couldn't access.

I updated the SQL using UPDATE smf_pm_recipients SET labels='-1'

and that cleared the message count in the header and the label count, but users still cannot access old PMs.

They are sitting there in the database--I can see them...I just can't figure out how to get them to the smf pm inbox.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

That should have moved them to the inbox. -1 is the id for the "inbox" label. I'm not sure what else would be causing them to not show up at all.
