I've been thinking of starting up a free smf hosting website like hxxp:forumer.com [nonactive] but for SMF  :D and i really like SMF's homepage and i was hoping that i was aloud to use that as a template for my homepage? or somthing like that becuase it's really cool ;D i've already got my support forums up -----> hxxp:scourge.fvvw.com/forums/ [nonactive] i'm getting my domain very soon but i just need a homepage and since my site is basically about SMF i thought i could use a homepage like yours

Luke Beale

Well there seems to be a few people starting this type of website and so you need to have a good script and website.

i've finally got the domain, host and script and i'm going to start building the website :)

Great, another free SMF Forum host, just what we need.  ::)

Isaac,

What is your point?

So what if there is another SMF host -- Didn't you at one point make your own SMF host? Not to mention how well it went  :-\

Mini

Isaac

Let me rephrase.

Great, another free SMF Host that seems to be done on the spur of the moment, without proper planning, thought, or management.  The 'Support Forum' that is set up is running an old, insecure version of IPB, and doesn't even appear to be a support forum (What is ShadowHaze?).

Scourge has thus far proven to have the literary skills of my 8 year old niece, yet I'm supposed to let this guy host my forum for me?  Why aren't his support forums on the same domain as the website will be?  In his first post, he's asking if he can use the SMF Website template for his own service.  ::)

Does he have a business plan?  I hardly doubt it.  Is he writing his own installation script?  I doubt it; he's likely using the same script as everyone else.

Yes, I did, and it went fine.  I was able to sell it, and I learned a lot from the whole expierence.

Sorry if I'm coming off as harsh, but the free forum hosting market is saturated.  You have to have a clever business plan and sheer luck to even break even.

Hmmm.  I'd expect an SMF support forum to use SMF, not IPB.

I agree with Isaac - I'd be very hesitant to use such an inexperienced host.

I was being sarcastic -- Would you like to me to refer you the thread where you advertised? You probably didn't have a business plan either, and your design was really not that good...

Isaac and Mini - you've successfully hijacked this thread.  If you have something else to add for Scourge, please do so.  Otherwise, please discuss this via PM or in a separate thread.
