I think there are still some webmasters out there, who lives in the opinion "never change a running system". Especially if you have a heavily modded forum, where the update would cost much time. I know some forum webmaster who thinks so.

Yep, I've customized my YaBB 1 Gold installation quite a bit. That's why I'd like to go straight to SMF, without taking the YaBBSE step in-between, before I start fiddling again

LOL... there is a very vital option missing from this poll.. which should be "Who IS..."

All charter members obviously fall into this category.

The reason stated for not upgrading based upon mod's would also have put you in the schtuck had the project continued as YSE 1.6.0 or YSE 2.0 or whatever. So what the diff?

Personally I am anti-mod, because I like to run a 'vanilla' board.

I'm happy to be able to say that, because I never heavily modded my board I'm able to upgrade without any issues at all. The only mod on my board was a user signup mod so I could keep out troublemakers. Thanks to SMF team taking suggestions here, and I suspect stemming from the Poll back on the YSE forum some time back this has been included as a standard feature, and actually judging from some screenshots posted up more features in this area which I considered pipe dreams are being included by standard.

If you modded your forum and cant upgrade without losing things, its your own fault for modding in the first place, because it makes your forum dependant on something that potentially has no future support. I mean no disrespect to mod authors there are some very cool ones out there, but I like to keep my options open.

It is not the fault of the YSE/SMF team that you can't upgrade your forum/s, its your own fault for putting yourself in that situation, and it is totally uncalled for in my eyes for people to ****** that they cant upgrade their modded YSE forum to SMF.

If i'd modded my forum when running yabb cgi, i'd have not been able to defect to YSE, and now I haven't modded that to the point where the though of upgrading cripples it either.. so going to SMF will be a breeze.. wack it through the included convertor, and i'm done

acf was stating, he will upgrade his forum to SMF. (from its perspective)
but also that he isnt upgrading SMF because actually its meant to be seen as a new thing, therefore cant be an upgrade
