Link to Mod

This mod is meant as a way for users to tell others what gifts they would like to get, useful for example in family forums.

A user himself can add items to his wishlist, which other users can see and mark as claimed, so nothing is bought double.

Others may also add items to a user's wishlist, which are then visible for everyone but that user.

This mod was coded by request and thus has very limited support for everyone but the original customer.

I gave this a go on my test site, and its great.  I have one modification request, however.  What I'd like to use it for is like a Book Swapping deal.  Members would place books they are willing to lend out on their List.  Other members could browse their list and then "claim" (ask for) a book in specific on that list.

The only thing I'd need to change / add in how it functions now is to allow the list owner to be able to see whom has "claimed" what item on their own list.  Would this be possible?

Does this work for 1.1.1?

Valodim

didn't test it, but I assume it does. just add version_emulate=1.1 to the url in your package manager and see if it installs properly :)

Unfortunately this forum has database errors...perhaps moving to the development edition wasn't a good move...or I'd be able to give you my own updated version of this mod...I'll try again later.

N.B. Please don't shout.

Smith Online

Thanks would be great if there was version for SMF 1.1.2 as my forum is a family forum so this would be a great feature  :P

PM me with e-mail details and I'll send it to you...BTW some other mods will conflict with it so it may need to be manually installed...not the fault of this or any other mod but just a fact of life...and SEO conflicts with so many things that I would be reluctant to try to sort that one out...se above user comment about a conflict.

Hi I Have Just Sent PM Please Let Me know if you recieve ok as it did no save to sent items not sure if its working correctly at min?

Yes thanks...I got it and sent the item off to you...likewise please confirm receipt of it if you'd be so kind.

BTW if you can keep this topic informed of the updated mod working for you it might help others...always supposing I ever get to add the darn thing here.

TrueSatan

On SMF 1.1.2 this mod has some bugs...the error log will get 2 entries when you view wish list items from another member's list...not sure if these are new or were always there...the latter I think.

how weird, I posted in here today and its gone :(

Two things, I wondered TS if this works for 1.1.2 if you dont have the seo mod installed?

and also,

I would be interested also in this if anyone ever did it

would this just require a simple change to let everyone see the list instead of everyone but the owner?

@ Perplexed

Yes it works for SMF1.1.2, provided you make the usual edit to the package file...I'll add a version below with that edit in place...and provided that you don't have SEO mod running...however, and as I stated in an earlier message you do get a rather annoying couple of errors filling up your error log. These errors are generated whenever you view another member's wishlist. It might be a php 5.x issue so users not on 5.x could well find the mod to be error free.

perplexed

cheers mate I'll try it later :)  Two errors doesnt sound too bad but of course if it becomes popular than those two errors are going to fill up the log rather quickly :(

Any thoughts on how to make it so that the owner of the list can see who claims the wish list items?  I like the idea above for the swapping list so that it becomes a list of items that someone has for offer rather than a list that someone wants  ;D
