Adding image to post

I know I'm being really dense, but this is all new to me. When you want to add an image to a post, you click the image icon [Even I can understand that] What do I do then. What url do I put in between the tags if the forum is hosted on my server. How to I add an image from my own harddrive?

If the image is on your hard drive and not hosted on the web anywhere you can either upload it to the web in someway or attach the image to a post by clicking on the "Additional Options" button on the posting screen and finding where it says "Attach:" then clicking "Browse" to locate the image on your computer.

If the image is available on the web, you can use the web address of the image. For example my avatar on this forum has the url of http://www.simplemachines.org/community/custom_avatars/avatar_6581.gif, if I put that in img tags it would produce the image like this:
