SMF Version: SMF 1.0.10

(The following was posted on the coding board about a week ago with zero responses.  Perhaps I'll have better luck here.)

I approve registration of new users manually.  After clicking on the APPROVE option in the Member Approval Center, I go into the just approved user's PROFILE, and under ADDITIONAL MEMBERGROUPS manually check a membergroup I've created called Registration Approved which gives them certain privileges not otherwise granted.

My question: Is there any way I can have a just approved user automatically assigned to that additional membergroup when I approve them in the Member Approval Center?

Are you trying to make it so to be able to post the members have to be approved by you?  Do you have certain places that those that are approved can post and certain places those that are not approved can post?

Additionally do you have the board set so they are required to be approved before they can post?  If this is true then you would not even need to do this.  After they have been verified they would then have the same privileges as those in your Registration Approved group.

Or am I misunderstanding what you are trying to accomplish by all of this?

It might be good to contact the creator of this mod: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=485
He created a mod that does it when the user registered, i would assume it would be easy to modify his mod to make it work in the way you want it to.

No, an entirely different function in that mod.  It assigns a membergroup on registration.  I need a user to be assigned to a specific membergroup on Admin *approval* (i.e., manual approval from the "waiting for approval" page).

Did you contact the author of the MOD and ask for the customization? (Clearing up older posts that need "solving.")

No. That mod was of no use to me as it had an entirely different function as I above explained.

jerm, who is far better at this than I, believes that it wouldn't be too difficult to convert one to the other and that is why he recommended it. It is beyond what I feel are my limits to convert it else I'd give it a shot for you. I'd really consider asking the other modification author for assistance. (The most they can do is say, "No.")

Thanks for your attention to this, KGIII.  At this point I don't quite need it as I've moved over to 1.1.1, and with that CAPCHA I've changed my registration to "user activate" rather than "user approval", so you can mark this item "solved".

Thanks again.
