More current theme options?

Is there a way to add more themes options easily? Or do I have to create manually more variables in the themes table for a specific theme? And do I then have to supply a sql-file with the theme to reflect this as well..?

For example....to add a textfield for a user-supplied logo , or to have more collapse- options in various areas of the forum.

Just add them to the templates and don't worry about any SQL.
