Hi folks,

I was wondering if there is any way that you can add a read more link on a SSI? That article that I have on the forum is quite long and I have included it in a test page and I have modified the SSI to only read 1000 characters of that particular post. Here is an example page [nofollow] scroll down to news. I would link a read more link just below that post...is that possible?

Just wanted to confess that I was being nosey.......  You have a very attractive and professional site!

Other than a hardcoded link to the article, I wouldn't know know how to help you.

Edited to fix spelling....  I'm a Dubbah!  :D

HI m8 thanks for the link! Yeah, I tried the search function but didn't really know what to look for I have so many returns that I was getting a little frustrated. Does this also work for .shtml extension cos I don't know much about .php. Thanks again for the response!

Hi m8! Yeah I followed the codes that Owdy left for you in the link that you shared with me. The problem is that I can't seem to activate the "read more" link. Here are the codes that I changed in my SSI.php.

This is what I did I looked for:
'new_comment' => '<a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=post;topic=' . $row['ID_TOPIC'] . '.' . $row['numReplies'] . '">' . $txt['smf_news_3'] . '</a>',

Then added:
'new_comment' => '<a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=post;topic=' . $row['ID_TOPIC'] . '.' . $row['numReplies'] . '">' . $txt['smf_news_3'] . '</a>','more' => '<a href="' . $scripturl . '?topic=' . $row['ID_TOPIC'] . '.0"> read more</a>',

then followed the rest of the instructions.

Here is a text [nofollow] version of my SSI.php. Can you show me a text version of your SSI.php m8? What am I doing wrong?

I'm not sure what you mean by activate the link. When I go to your website, the read more text is a link and it goes directly to the post in your forum when you click on it. That seems active to me, no? I feel like I'm missing your question totally when you refer to 'activating the link'

Yeah, i see the link now. I was so busy looking at the other read me more link that was below my other post. I noticed that by changing the amount the length amount of the post it activated the link. Thanks for clearing that up m8 and helping me open my eyes. LOL!

And if i want to add a "more" button, but this button will bring only that news, reading only the SSI?
in this solution, it links to the forum... i´m looking for a way to the SSI display only one specific news... any ideias?

it's almost this... the only think is that i want a link to the topic, to the first post of the board. I will think a little bit on this!

Very, very thank you!
