That would be an awesome addition. Chat is nice but not always useful. PM's seem to take up more space than required if you just want to talk privately with someone.

yea exactly,who will bother to make a post then??i even don't support the idea of having a shoutbox even for that matter.

Shoutboxes can be effective too.

Hello everyone! 

Doesn't really take away from the forum, we have it on an old UBB board we're looking to update from & at times it has come in quite handy.  Gives you the option to get a hold of someone privately (and quickly) when you see them browsing the boards (it only works when someone is actively on the forum it's not like MSN etc.), a shoutbox everyone would see what you were saying 


Then again, easy for me to say I have no clue how much of a headache that would be to code
