I've really liked the blogging system of SMF, I've asked it in the "how this blog was created" topic, but I couldn't get an answer.

Does someone know how the Simple Machines Blog is created? I think it's possible with SSI, but I couldn't create the comment system.

I've got some PHP knowledge.

Is something like the Simple Machines Blog possible to create? It would be very useful..

Take a look at the code and look at some more of the code. I can't tell you exactly how it was done as I don't know. (I like it too.) But it is more permission based and theme based as near as I can see. Starting with that - run... I don't think there is a direct answer at this time in other words, give it a few and you can/will figure it out I think. If I had to make a GUESS it would be that those sections can force a theme, and, from there it is all permissions based. Hopefully that hint is enough.

It's all simple. But the comment system is difficult. I don't have enough knowledge to code that..

you could force the wikistyle theme on the forums for bloging, then from there set the permissions, that way any reply it a comment.

The blogs are actually a board in here (check the bottom of the board index).

The blogs system uses a "friendly URL" mod, I believe. The comments are pulled using SMF functions, and are just replies to the topics in the board.

I use Tinyportal without sidebars for my blog.

It's all simple with SSI, but the comment system is the difficult part. I want to know how the comment system's made.

I've released a "SSI Topic and Replies" mod at http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=751... If you know PHP, you can use this mod to grab all the comments. Use ssi_boardNews for the main blog page, ssi_topic (that mod) for the "Read More" and comments page, and you have a simple blog system
For the people that don't know PHP, I'll try to (eventually) work on a simple blog system (similar to the one here). With that mod done, a fairly large portion of the blog is already done
