Then, I always just get a blank page...

What's wrong?

BTW: the mistake is not in my template... I echo $context['latest_topics'], so that's not it...

You cannot do this:

$a = '1', '2', '3';

Which is what you're trying to do.  You need to change it to read:

$a = '1' . '2' . '3';
