Can you not use a custom topic icon like we use here?

I saw it, but I think for novice user an additional button or pulldownmenu would be better

MOD. You can do this easily with themes. Not default feature material IMO.

I know this topic hasn't been posted in for nearly 2 years but after isntalling SMF and looking at the features it didn't have by default (more like waht I wanted  ;)) I created a 'Thread Resolved' mod.

The mod allows the thread creator (or admin) to mark the thread as resolevd. This mod is useful if you are running a support board so users can easily identify which threads have been resolevd.

Once the 'Mark As Resovled' button is pressed the thread icon is changed to a green tick and the text '[RESOLEVD]' is added to the start of the thread subject.

You can download the mod from the below link.
