Speaking of chat/speech bubble theme,... they removed the signatures .... i tried that in my forum.... people liked it but they were complaining about their signatures being removed.... ii had no choice but to put back the default theme...hehehe

If you're referring to the chat bubble theme I made, the option for signatures is available (with a very simple modification to the code) in the latest version found here:

Your THEME ROCKS thanks so much wow
amazing work

hope they let you enter this in the contest :)

keep up the innovative work

Whoever said that $100 and a charter membership isn't much - it's actually more than you think. Charter members get a lot of other benefits that general users don't get, including dedicated support and advanced releases (ie you get the latest release earlier than everyone else...).

*Rant Begins
I am sorry, but I am totally amazed how this thread has gone.
An offer for the members here that "wish" to contribute their work and "win" a Charter Membership = $50 and $100 US.
For what? Nothing.
Most people here are eager to contribute to this site that gives them this software and even more for those that choose to be members and pay the small fee. (Trust me, it is small compared to some boards)

What is with complaints about the finances and how they are attributed amongst the staff or not? I'm sorry but what does that have to do with the price of tea in China and why should this be your business to know? Do you have some small take in this company? I do not really think that is important nor the original intent of this thread.
Why do people choose to take things off of topic and pursue their own sense of gratification rather than sticking to topic at hand and opening another thread for their babble on the finances and their allocation?
*Rant Ends

Great idea here [unknown] and I am sorry this thread does not appear to be a more positive response to this contest.

Going on what you said, why didn't you just make a new thread about this one? It would go along with what you said in not (yet again) changing the topic. It went from "The Contest" > "Lame Contest" > "Complaining about the complaining of the contest." Geez, do it or don't.

morph

And then we have complaining about the complaining about the complaining... its a never ending cycle.. but anyways, if i have some time to come up with a theme and think about it i may enter. can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. good luck!

Coming soon!

Travis

Sounds cool. I would like to make a fall theme, but I am afraid I am not good with PHP :'(. I could make a site, just not a forum theme. But I may try it.
YEAH!! I FINALLY HAVE A SMF!!!

Well, you do know that you can even enter themes made with my YaBB SE theme converter, right?  I will tell you that doing it this way won't do as well, but you can at least get started this way and if you made it look really good you could still get first place ;).  And anyway, it would still be an entry, that's enough in itself ;).

As said on the contest page and things linked from it, if you want help just ask.

Now that is the best thing I have read in any forum. Don''t just ****** about it. Change it! I ask you, What is a life where you have choices but never make them? And what kind of life would you lead if you complian but never do anyhting about it?

Answer those and you may feel enlightened.

Ok, but a Forum is just another style of Website. Design the base and then get some help with the coding. In the end what do we have to lose. If anything by then end of it you may even learn something about PHP coding. Either way we all win.  ;D

Personally I'm with you Bud d, I have no idea about PHP coding but i'll give it a whirl.

A life without choices is not a life; choices are what make life life.  Obviously if you lived only complaining... you'd be a winer, by definition :P.

I would say we all make choices about everything. It is making the right choices that count. Taking the risk of failing in trying something new, is a challenge...afterwards you can make choices in terms of giving up...or getting it right ;) :P

(okay, it is getting a bit late where I am sitting..3 at night )

The_Altered1

I'm jumping into this a bit late in the game, but I'll whip one up. Just a couple of things first:

1: Will this be based on the RC1 or the RC2 versions.....( I like to move/create and re-write templates extensively ) Chances are any skin that I create will only be good for the current version that it is skinned upon; I see that the RC2 version has already been handed to the charter members.

2: How will the submissions/screen shots/progress updates....etc. be handled.

I look forward to competing with this community so best of luck to everyone. This will be interesting  ;D

Anguz

Welcome ;)

Well, I'd say you can safely work on RC1, since it'll probbably work on RC2 too, but if not, it'll be minimal what you need to update, and also, you can't waste any time waiting for that to come out. Go ahead and theme with what's available now :)

Here is a sample fullscreen image of the postview. I call the skin "Evolver"  ;)

http://imagehost.darkernet.co.uk/i/sample_smf.jpg [nofollow]

PS: sorry so fuzzy, but I had to reduce the image to under 100kb for the free image host.

[Unknown]

The requirement is that it work with RC1.  Even if it did not work with RC2 (although that would be nice and probably do better...) it wouldn't be a big deal.

Submissions should be done to contest@simplemachines.org... all other paraphanelia can be posted here, or handled any way you'd like.

Looks great ;).  Thanks,

Give me that theme!! ;D

The_Altered1

:) Right now the entire theme is complete and functional with re-writes of every template; But, it is skinned using a beta smf board and freaks out when applied to the current version. I am converting it to RC1 as I speak.

I will let you all know when completed - projected time ( 4-7 days )

Thanks for the interest.
