Is there a "jail" modification out there where I can put the bad members for a while?

This can be done with permissions. Just create a new group called "Jail" and restrict the permissions you don't want people in that group to have. Then when people have been bad, you can dump them in that group for awhile.

Or, a simpler way would be to use the ban feature. And just post ban them.

Hmmm...interesting.  Okay, let's further imagine that I wanted to have a list to show of all those who are in jail.  Thoughts?

Well, if you do this via the ban system, you can just look at the list of banned users.

If you do it though a member group, you can view the members in a member group in your admin panel (Admin > Membergroups > group name).
