Empty notification?

I just got this notification in Gmail:

Simple Machines Community Forum <[email protected]>
8:39 pm (5 minutes ago)
   to      <my e-mail address>   
   date      Apr 18, 2007 8:39 PM   
   subject      Topic reply: Errors

The message body is empty. Is this normal?

However, the original message (header etc.) shows the full content of the post I was notified about.

I noticed that the post has an unclosed [code] tag. Maybe that's the problem?
