Is there a way to keep a record of sent newsletter?

For a big forum with several admins and moderators, I hope there is a way to keep a record of newsletter so that when check back the history, we can have some idea of what have been sent out (and to whom the newsletter has been sent to). Sometimes I can't remember if I have sent a particular newsletter to my members or not, as I have several forums.

Hope this request will be granted by SMF team.

Thanks.

You can send it to everyone and they can save it in their inbox. Another option MIGHT be to post it as an announcement in a read-only section which, when announced, will send out the contents. 'Snot quite what you are after but may work well enough for what you are requesting.

SMF vs. Godzilla? Who do you think will win?

Hi KGIII,

Thanks for the fast reply. :)

I do understand that I can actually search back my email box for the OLD or previous Newsletter that I have sent, but it would actually be more convenient and make more sense if there can be a history record saved in SMF Newsletter, easier to refer and when sending out new newsletter, much easier to take note of the previous sent newsletter.

Announcement in the forum will only send out a topic to certain groups, not really a newsletter feature where the contents are sent. Or am I missing something? :P

You can set the default to include the body of the message and then send it. One caveat that is of some importance:

I always - regardless of what it is - have a spare if it is important. Kind of like keeping a set of spare keys for your car. I have a second administrator account on my PC and one on my forum too - just in case. Sending newsletters to everyone, including admins, sends that to the administrator's spare account as well as the account that I use for day-to-day operations. As that account doesn't post anything there is no other mail cluttering it up and, even if it were at a free email site, rules would ensure that the replies ended up in certain folders.

Again, this isn't the ideal solution for your request but rather something you can do if you would like and this will basically accomplish what you are after which is, as I understand it, being able to easily (fairly) see what you have sent out for newsletters.

Hi KGIII,

Thanks. I guess that's a solution at the moment.

Still, any chance this feature request will be granted? :)

No clue really - right now I am going to stick with "unlikely." I figure that, in the meanwhile, you can at least get by with the above.
