SSL . TLS for SMTP mail

I use Gmail for my domains mail server, but they only support "Secure" connections on port 465.

Is there any way that this could be in the next release or even as a mod, if not i will probably just make my own mod or even edit the source.

I doubt it will make a feature but it may - doesn't seem that unlikely to happen - but for now if you search around you can find people who've done exactly what you are asking to do so you shouldn't need to work too hard though, if I recall, you had to edit the php.ini file?

Try changing the port to 465 and then using ssl://server.tld as the hostname (obviously replacing server.tld with the SMTP server address)
