Migrating SMF DB 2 Joomla

Hello
  I have both Joomla and SMF up and running,,, but I want to copy the DB from SMF and insert it into the Joomla DB so I can take advantage of the Joomlahacks/ CB bridge.

I understand once the db is copied I need to edit the settings in SMF

I am asking anyone here,, what is the best way to copy the DB from one app like SMF and insert it into another db??
