SMF Forum Tabbing

I think it would be a good feature an option for tabbing of each forum category.

Have a tab-strip along the top and when clicked it will show that category of the forum.

You should also make it show the amount of new posts in each section, possibly by using a javascript 30 second auto-refresh like gmail has.

e.g. with this site, these would be the tabs:

Simple Machines, SMF Support, SMF Development, General Community, Simple Machines Blogs

When they are clicked only that category will be displayed.

Similar to what www.javabb.org [nofollow] has done with their software.

Could be usefull for a few forums.
But I don't think it should be a feature, but a mod.

It would work better as a feature because mods seem to cause problems with other mods ><

if it causes problems with other mods as a mod, the only difference between a mod and a feature is weather you have to install it afterwords. So if it is a problem as a mod, it would be a problem as a feature.

most definitiely a theme thing... and something that many boards would be overwhelmed with, if they had more than 1-2 categories...

Yeah. I can't imagine how bad this forum would be if all the categories were tabs.
