Translation tools and PO files

Hi, mates:

I would like to translate SMF and was thinking about using a collaborative translation tool such as Entrans or Pootle to allow a translation team to work with ease.
I 've browsed this forums but found no information about it. Those tools need Gettext's PO files, so I was wondering if someone has already generated PO files for SMF or used some collaborative translation tool.

Thanks for your effort to translate SMF into another language. Personally I think it's better to translate it manually because many tools destroy the sense of the language strings which will make it more complicate for users to understand and use SMF.
