Alright, I suppose this is coming from someone who had come from phpbb and found that to be one of the easiest things to work with because of the .tpl (methinks) files that were used for templates, in which the php was pretty much left out and functions within the TPL files allowed for administration to simply work with minor display elements at a time. The skinning feature in SMF although similar provides a bit of trouble in that the php for the most part is directly integrated into the boards skinning files (i may be doing something wrong never know) like the table display etc. Anyway what I was curious about seeing was a few things some of them are more hey hey if its possible and others are because although the default skin works I have never been a big fan of its image set.

First a single file that has the pointers for all the images, that way It doesn't require hunting down each and every individual .gif in the file to change the boards images. This gets annoying quite fast.
A div based layout (apparently its possible), but I know this happens to be one of the largest pains out there. SMF is pretty good about divs, but there are still a lot of tables even in the defualt layout.
I don't want to say a summarization of the boards layout in one file, but the layout files are quite spread out, maybe if the primary areas (which are still a little broken up in the default template) could be more condensed (the front page, the board page, and then the posting page)
Just some thoughts that I would love to see to stick with SMF for the next couple of years.
